R.I.P.

The Salad Sled

In case you hadn't heard, I had a little mishap Thursday night on a road south of Punta Gorda. A 16-year-old driver pulled out in front of the Titan and I had to swerve to avoid a collision. The back end still got clipped and that sent the truck sliding and, eventually, flipping. Came down on all fours, remarkably.

The good news: I'm still alive. The x-rays came back negative.

The bad news: My ribs feel like they've been the target of batting practice. Oh, and the Titan is probably trashed.

Yes, I had my seatbelt on. That probably saved my life and kept me from being flung out of the truck like so many of the contents that had been inside.

But the Salad is going to be on hiatus for a little while as my ribs heal and I get back on my feet during the next few days.

The last image I'll have of the Titan appeared today in 4You magazine. We used it on Tuesday during a photo shoot:

Best vehicle I ever owned. I'll miss it greatly. There's a big hole in the driveway where it used to obstruct just about everything.

My advice to you: Always wear your seatbelt kids. And buy a Titan.

Wow, sorry to hear about the accident, so far this year my sister's suburban has been rear-ended by a sixteen year old, the impact was such that it bent the axel on the freakin' suburban! My sixteen year old niece just got her license and a VW Bug, you have been warned and are states away.

Also, a sixteen year old elk jumped in front of my parents mini-van on I-5 no less and totalling it completely, and no I don't know for a fact that this elk was 16, let's just assume it was.

Get rest, be better and the pic, well that's just hot.

Hope you heal quickly.

To help you feel better, start contemplating getting one of those Bucsmobiles -- remember that thing? Maybe the guy would do you a custom job.

Oh, glad to hear you're okay!

Wow, is it a full moon? Last Sunday, a 16 yr old who had just got her license the week before backed out of her driveway and into the path of my daughter's car.
Daughter is 17, been driving about a year. She swerved to avoid the other girl's Nissan truck, which slammed into the back passenger side door, leaving the tail light all over the middle of the road. Then she promptly got out of the truck and said it wasn't her fault. Oh.

Cop didn't see it that way and cited her with careless driving. I have a fat check from her parents insurance company in my hands to prove it. Unfortunately, our car is all smashed up.
Really glad you're ok!
And that picture ROCKS! Go Bucs!!!

Egads, glad you're okay! But deepest condolences on the lost of the sled. Hopefully while you're convalescing you can gather the strength to look at truck ads :-).

Make sure all members of the Casa de Salad wait on you hand and foot.
