Took Salad Boy to his first concert on Saturday night, the Toby Keith show at the Ford Amphitheatre. Although some serious storms threatened, the evening turned out beautiful, with a coral-colored sunset appearing just as middle act Lee Ann Womack came on.
He later corrected me.
"Don't say cowboy hat, Dad. It sounds like a little boy."
"What do you want me to call it? A Toby Keith hat?"
"Yeah. That sounds better."
Ah, the tender ego of a 10-year-old.
Of course after having to look at it all night right at my line of sight, I was tempted to re-injure it for her.
A country concert, Jeff? The only reason I go to those is when the wife forces me. You've been in Brandon too long. --ss

Posted by: Kat at August 9, 2005 11:57 AMOh Mr. Houck remember the days of all the country acts we've seen? The tour bus, back stage with Clint Black, Jr.Brown, etc. Tell Mr . Brian Uncle Bob likes his Toby Keith hat and will wear my cowboy with him anytime. You guy's look like ya had a good time. As far as that freak in front of you 20,000 fans and you get robo hand front and center. P.S. Didn't we see TK in concert with dancing girls on oil rig platforms? Oh the days.
Posted by: Bob at August 9, 2005 09:25 PMWe have seen some shows, my friend. Had us buttloads of fun. Backstage was a blast hanging out with the Kinleys and Trace Adkins. Then there was the time we had to run in the rain to see George Strait and Terri Clark.
I didn't see Toby until I got to Tampa (this makes twice). Must have been some other gigantic friend.
